Overview of the PM Chromebook Scheme

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched the scheme at a ceremony in Islamabad on Sunday, 25 October 2026. Under the plan, the government will give out 500,000 refurbished Chromebooks, along with internet devices, to students across Pakistan. Officials say the devices will be handed out over the next two to three years, and different reports give different timelines.

Marks decide who gets a Chromebook. Students are ranked on their exam results, and IBCC checks those results with the education boards. As a result, the process aims to reward hard work and not recommendations. The devices will reach verified students by courier, and a central system will track each delivery.

Who Can Apply? Eligibility Criteria

The official portal lists the following rules.

  • Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan: Only top-performing students of Grade 9 (SSC-I) from government or public schools can be considered. Selection is based on the Annual Examinations 2026.
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Islamabad (ICT) and Gilgit-Baltistan: Top-performing students of both Grade 9 (SSC-I) and Grade 10 (SSC-II) from government or public schools can be considered.
  • School type: The student must be enrolled in a government or public school.

News reports also say that a student needs at least 50% marks in the latest SSC-I exam. In addition, some reports mention that private schools supported by provincial education foundations and registered madaris (seminaries) are part of the plan. The portal, however, currently lists government and public schools only. Therefore, please follow the portal and your board’s notice, and do not rely on social media posts.

Notice for Students of Sindh

Registration for Sindh students is not open yet. According to the official notice, it will start on the same portal after all Sindh boards announce the Class 9 Annual Examination 2026 results.

Province-Wise Chromebook Quota

The government has divided the 500,000 devices among provinces and regions as shown below.

Province / RegionChromebooks Allocated

Balochistan31,815
Islamabad (ICT)100,000
Azad Jammu and Kashmir25,000
Gilgit-Baltistan25,000
Total500,000

How the Devices Will Be Shared

Reports say that in each region, 80% of the devices will go to school students and 20% to madaris students. Among school students, 70% of the devices are kept for the science stream and 30% for the arts stream. Merit lists are prepared separately for each board and each stream. So, you compete only with students of your own board and stream.

How to Apply for the PM Chromebook Scheme: Step by Step

  1. Open the official portal. Visit pmychromebooks.ibcc.edu.pk on your phone or computer.

  3. Add your date of birth. Choose the day, month and year exactly as they appear on your board record. Then click Find my record.
  4. Check your details. The portal shows your name, school and marks from the list your board sent. Read everything carefully.
  5. Upload your documents. Upload your photograph, mark sheet, attested B-Form copy and attested copy of your father’s or guardian’s CNIC.
  6. Review the form. Look at the review screen once more. After you submit, you cannot change the form yourself.
  7. Submit and save your slip. You will get a reference number and a slip. Download the slip and keep it safe.

Please remember that each student can apply only once.

What If Your Record Is Not Found?

First, try your roll number or registration number instead of your CNIC or B-Form number. If the portal still cannot find you, contact your education board. Also, check that your date of birth matches the board record.

PM Chromebook Scheme Last Date

There is no single last date for the whole country. Each board has its own deadline, because each board sent its own list to IBCC.

Some of these dates have already passed. Even so, the portal still showed the application form at the time of writing. So, please check your board’s latest notice, or call your board office, before you give up.

What Happens After You Apply?

  1. IBCC and your board verify your result and your documents.
  2. Provincial education departments confirm your school and enrollment.
  3. Merit lists are prepared for each board and stream.
  4. Selected students receive their Chromebook by courier.

Giving false information cancels the Chromebook allocation and may lead to further action. So, enter only correct details.

Tips for Students and Parents

  • Scan your documents in good light so that every word is clear.
  • Keep each file under 300 KB, or the portal will not accept it.
