Program Overview

The Sydney Quantum Academy Postgraduate Scholarship supports full-time PhD students conducting research in quantum science and technology at one of the Sydney Quantum Academy partner universities.

Applicants must have an unconditional offer of admission or be currently enrolled in a full-time PhD in a field related to quantum science and technology at an SQA partner university. Partner universities include the University of Sydney, UNSW Sydney, University of Technology Sydney and Macquarie University. Primary scholarship applicants require endorsement support from an eligible SQA academic staff member and must meet the scholarship conditions.

Eligibility Criteria & Requirements

For international students, the primary scholarship provides a stipend allowance of AUD 41,753 per annum at the current listed 2025 rate for up to 3.5 years, subject to satisfactory academic performance. Tuition fees are also provided for up to 14 research periods. Recipients also have access to SQA career development funding and the SQA PhD Experience Program. Domestic and international recipients may also receive approved scholarship extensions subject to the terms and funding availability.
