Job Description & Overview
The Assistant Manager for Aircraft Modification Project is a highly technical coordinator bridging the gap between complex aerospace engineering design and shop-floor execution. This role is responsible for driving synchronization across engineering design teams and manufacturing / production teams. The ideal candidate ensures that modification workflows adhere strictly to aviation safety standards, stay on timeline, and maintain absolute configuration control from blueprints to structural installation. The incumbent will work closely with project manager for continual risk assessment and timely execution of project.
Job Responsibilities:
•
Cross-Team Integration & Interface:
Serve as the primary technical interface between design and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless handoffs from engineering drawings to shop floor production.
•
Engineering Review Coordination:
Lead interdisciplinary design reviews to evaluate aircraft structural changes, avionics integration, and system modifications before finalizing drawings for production batches.
•
Schedule & Dependency Tracking:
Manage and update the Master Project Schedule, actively tracking dependencies between design completion milestones and the start of raw material fabrication or structural tear-downs.
•
Risk & Bottleneck Mitigation:
Proactively identify project bottlenecks—such as design iteration delays or manufacturing resource constraints—and implement strategic recovery plans to keep the modification timeline on schedule.
•
Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Support:
Collaborate closely with manufacturing leads to ensure that engineering designs are optimized for assembly, tooling requirements, and the specific capabilities of the production floor.
•
Regulatory & Certification Compliance:
Ensure all design modifications and manufacturing outputs strictly adhere to aviation authority standards and coordinate the submission of required airworthiness certification paperwork.
•
Configuration & Change Control:
Manage the engineering change order (ECO) process, ensuring that any modifications made during the physical manufacturing phase are properly documented, approved, and communicated back to the design teams.
